Social media is a landscape of comparison. Someone else will ALWAYS look like they’re doing ‘better’ than you. It’s easy to panic and think “how will I ever be as good”, but it’s absolutely pointless.
You will never truly know someone else’s situation – and you don’t need to.
You might have experienced that sinking feeling when you stumble upon another hair or makeup artist who seems to have it all together, making you question your own worth and abilities.
It’s a common experience, but here’s a piece of advice from a seasoned bridal hair and makeup artist coach: don’t look, don’t watch, just unfollow. Why?
Because it’s not personal; it’s business.
I’ve seen many talented hair and bridal artists lose their confidence and passion because they allowed themselves to be consumed by the achievements of others. Remember, everyone’s journey is unique, and comparing your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty is not a fair comparison. Instead, focus on your own growth and celebrate your small wins along the way.
If you find yourself stuck in the comparison game, take a step back, unfollow what doesn’t serve your mental health, and redirect your energy towards personal growth.
Unfollow them, hun.
