When you’re just starting out in the wedding industry, you might not have a niche. It can be tempting to try to capture the entire market so that you don’t miss out on clients when you’re just getting off the ground.
Even when you’re more established, you may find yourself saying yes to working with clients who ask you to create whatever look is on their Pinterest board.
Unfortunately though, this can do more harm than good.
Not only will you end up creating looks and styles that aren’t really your ‘vibe; or that you just don’t enjoy doing, but you’ll also potentially lose your confidence because you’re not sure what your style or vibe IS anymore.
It can be a living nightmare, because while doing this, you’re also saying yes to everyone and anything, meaning you’re not handpicking YOUR clients. You know, the clients you actually want to attract.
Let me give you an example from my own experience:
In our Inner Circle Programme, I only work with bridal hair and makeup artists making at least 10k per year. From there they work through our milestones until they hit £100k, and so on. I know exactly who we’re targeting and at what level they are if they join us.
THIS is the level of clarity you should have around your style of hair or makeup and the clients you serve.
If you’re not clear on what your style is, there’s a good chance you’ll be attracting more brides from hell and you could actually be doing your clients a disservice, which in turn affects your business in many ways.
