What is a successful business, if not a line of opportunities leading to an established base? Today I’m here to offer my tips on how to make sure that every interaction you have can lead to an opportunity to level-up your bridal hair and makeup business.
When you’re trying to get yourself set up, or maintain your successful wedding business, you need to ensure that you’re not just waiting for opportunities to fall into your lap. If you’re just starting off and they don’t come in, this can be pretty disheartening, and if you’re established, you can lose out on making your business even better because you’re just coasting along.
Here are a few tips to keep your wedding business going in the right direction, with the power that is networking.
Once you’ve worked with someone on their wedding day, don’t just forget about them. Your brides and other clients, no matter how recently they’ve used your services, love it when you keep in touch with them. It keeps you fresh in their minds and if you can offer them something, even better. How about a returning customer discount, or ensuring they get first-refusal on your diary for a busy event? Even keeping in touch with them via social media by replying to their posts and stories can turn a one-off transaction into a long customer relationship.
It’s now easier than ever to get the word out about your bridal business. Across social media, in person and on your own platforms, there’s every opportunity to make sure your voice is heard loud and clear. You can even pay for advertising which can lead to opportunities. It’s important though, when creating new opportunities for yourself that you’re not just ‘selling’. People can see through that, and it can be quite a jarring experience when you’re on the other end of it. Can you find a way to create a conversation around your business that isn’t directly asking someone to buy from you? It’s a skill that takes honing, for sure.
You might think that you have your target market licked, but did you know that opportunities are everywhere – even outside what you think you know? By just being on hand and offering help where you can, this can lead to several other opportunities from places that you may have looked over before. Think outside the box for where you can offer your bridal makeup and hair services.
A lot of turning interactions into opportunities is having the confidence to do so. If you’re too shy to bring up your wedding business or what you can offer, you could be missing out. The best way to get around this is to come up with and rehearse a good elevator pitch (remember, sway away from direct ‘selling’) to offer to people quickly. Leave it open-ended so that they can ask any questions and try it out on someone you trust to ensure it’s exciting and interesting.
